The Bear Creek Reelers offers group music training and performance opportunities to a group of young musicians, aged from 9 to 14 years.
Some previous members of the group have now progressed to the Cairngorms Ceilidh Trail, but come back to help out from time to time.
A new group of 'Bears' made their debut on Sunday 1st May as part of the short Cèilidh in Grantown, following a day working with Donal Brown. A few more sessions are planned, which we hope will lead to performances to support the Cairngorms Cèilidh Trail in July and at our 21st Birthday Celebrations on Cairngorm Mountain on 9th Spetember, as part of Blas.

The Bear Creek Reelers take their name from a tune written by Aonghas Grant, the left-handed Lochaber fiddler. 'The Bear Creek Reel' was inspired as Aonghas was in a small plane during a tour in Canada and looked down to see a bear lumbering across a river. He taught the tune to one of the band members, who in turn brought it back to the group and they adopted it as a signature tune and hence their name.
